Joel Schramm

Registered Psychotherapist

I am currently accepting new clients and work with a wide variety of people experiencing a range of struggles. I am especially passionate about issues with anxiety, stress, and mood, often connected to life transitions, grief, relationships, self esteem, identity, and spirituality.  We would work together to achieve your goals, while always being mindful of the need for connection and meaning in life.

My approach is based in the belief that change is possible. I strive to build a psychotherapeutic space where you would feel safe to further explore your authentic self and work toward the change you’d like to see. I encourage feedback to help me tailor my approach to best serve you.

In addition to my education and work experience, I have focused further resources learning about issues facing couples as well as those with ADHD. When working with couples, I usually operate from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) perspective, but also have training in the Gottman Method. Depending on your personal needs, I could provide more structured approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which many find helpful.

In addition to years spent living abroad, I have invested considerable energy training and learning about anti-racism and other various forms of cross-cultural engagement. Identity and lived experience can be extremely important for people to feel understood. I will strive to understand you and your experiences, and work in a way that honors your values. If you’d like to learn more and decide if we would be a good fit for working together, I offer free 15 minute consultations.
